Possible Extension of Unemployment and COBRA Benefits through December 31, 2010

According the NYS Department of Labor in their May 21, 2010 edition of the Labor Buzz, The House and Senate announced last week that they had reached an agreement to extend the eligibility dates for unemployment insurance and COBRA benefits through the end of the year.

This bill does not add a Tier 5 or weeks of benefits, but would allow claimants to transition to an additional tier of benefits.

The bill is expected to be voted on shortly by the House and if passed will go back to the Senate before it goes to the President to be signed.
