HR Works executive briefing spotlights Hillside teen-employment initiative
Feb. 25 forum offers employers opportunities to invest
in young workforce
What do Zeller Electric, Wegmans,
Dixon Schwabl Advertising and Wendy’s have in common?
Each of these companies is investing in the future of the local workforce as part of
the Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection. The Hillside program places promising
but under-supported teens in meaningful jobs, helping them achieve success in
school, at work and at home.
To spotlight the program, HR Works, Inc., is presenting, “The Hillside Work-Scholarship
Connection,” on Feb. 25 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the first-floor
conference room at 255 Woodcliff Drive, Fairport. The program is
free.
Led by Condenessa Barron of Hillside, the
program will illustrate the benefits for companies that participate, as well as
the tremendous boost for teens -– who otherwise may
fail to achieve their career goals because their school, home and
neighborhood environments are unable to provide vital support and opportunity.
“While the Hillside program is a boon for teens seeking to excel, it also gives
employers an important way to invest in the community and provide role modeling
for teens whose environments may fall short of the ideal,” says Kate Leunig, director of training and development at
HR Works. “Employers that nurture teens by providing a positive work experience
help develop a workforce that’s better prepared to contribute for a lifetime.”
Designed for senior managers -- including CEOs, company presidents, vice presidents, CFOs, controllers and HR executives
-- the presentation is part of HR NetWorks: The Executive Human Resources Forum
, a series created by HR Works to address advanced-level
issues and case studies that directly impact organizations’ strategic
initiatives and profitability.
