HR Works' HR Boot camp offers basic training in employment-law compliance
Four-session series designed to assist HR administrators reduce liability
HR Works, Inc., announces an updated version of its popular HR Bootcamp, a series of
training sessions for human resource administrators of all experience levels.
HR administrators can provide the first line of defense
in helping an organization avoid lawsuits and ensuring compliance with federal
and state employment laws. At HR Bootcamp sessions, new administrators will
learn best practices in compliance strategies. Experienced administrators will
refresh their skill sets. All participants will benefit from seasoned HR
Bootcamp trainers with years of real-world experience.
HR Bootcamp sessions are scheduled for Thursdays as
follows:
- “Wage and Hour Laws: Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA),” Jan. 30. Session will
include: FLSA overview; determining exempt status; duties and salary tests for
exempt classifications; overtime compensation; docking pay; distinguishing
travel time, on-call time, training time and rest periods; and preparing for a
Department of Labor audit.
- “Employment Law Primer for HR Administrators,” Feb. 6.
Program will cover: EEO, Title VII, ADEA, ADA and laws governing
employment at will, discrimination and harassment, workplace privacy, and
record-keeping and retention.
- “Understanding and Implementing Your Affirmative
Action Plan,” Feb. 13. Program will include: overview of AAPs; filing EEO-1
reports; workforce analysis, annual goals, adverse impact analysis; narratives;
good-faith efforts; record-keeping; and compliance enforcement.
- “Understanding FMLA, ADA and Workers’ Compensation,”
Feb. 20. Participants will gain an understanding of
entitlements, obligations and proactive steps under the Family and Medical
Leave Act; reasonable accommodation and steps necessary to avoid claims under
the Americans with Disabilities Act; and employer rights and obligations,
back-to-work programs and recommendations to reduce absences and costs under the Workers’
Compensation Law.
All sessions will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at HR Works’ second-floor training facility, 345 Woodcliff Drive,
Fairport. The cost is $75 per person per session. Participants are encouraged
to attend all four sessions for maximum benefit; however, attendees may choose
fewer sessions. Early signup is encouraged, as the sessions are expected to
sell out quickly.
